Welcome to Class 3 and our year 3 and year 4 pupils.

Class 3 marks the start of our children’s journey into Key Stage 2 and with it, perhaps slightly more formal learning. Our children will be encouraged to be far more independent now they are part of the upper school and are encouraged to be more responsible for organising their workspace and learning.

As we have two year groups in the same class, we work on a two year rota of topics, whilst differentiating the learning for each year group.

Our learning for the year is centred around 6 topics. These are:

Heroes and Villains

Scrumdiddlyumptious

Gods and Mortals

Tribal Tales

Mighty Metals

And Tremors

Through these topics, our children are offered a broad and balanced curriculum linked to a topic each term. A core text is chosen each term to both engage and centre our English learning.

We begin each term with a memorable experience to launch our new topic and really engage our children. Each term then ends with an innovate project, where the children are able to use the skills and knowledge they have gained over the term, to complete a project, showcasing their new found skills. We will actively seek opportunities to welcome parents and carers in to school to celebrate and share your children’s achievements and learning at the end of each term, Covid restrictions allowing.

Class 3 is also where we offer music lessons, this year, our children are all learning how to play the Ukulele and it is also where they start to learn French.

As part of our memorable experiences this academic year, the children will meet Cruella DeVil, take part in an Ancient Greek Day and hopefully visit the Bronze Age Boat in Dover museum.
